There was a boy and he wsa nice.Women were never really treated equally, up until the 100’s. As a matter of fact, some men still don’t care to treat women equally. Women were denied many rights, and among them was the right to vote. Women thought this was unfair. Two very important women during these women suffrage times were Susan B. Anthony, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Because of these brave and determined women, there is now an amendment that states that men and women are allowed to vote.

Elizabeth Cady Stanton became interested in women’s suffrage in the year 180. In 1840 she got married and went to London for the World Anti-Slavery Convention. But for some reason, the delegates there seemed to totally exclude women. Elizabeth Cady Stanton went back to discuss this with Lucretia Mott, who was, also, supposed to attend the meeting.

Eight years later, Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton called the first Women’s Rights Convention held in Seneca Falls, New York. In 186 Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton founded the National Women Suffrage Association. Elizabeth Cady Stanton was the president until 180.

In the year 1878, Elizabeth Cady Stanton tried to persuade Senator Aaron A. Sargent of California to sponsor a women’s suffrage amendment. In 11 they approved of this law. Then, in 10, the congress finally approved of it and this was made the 1th amendment of the Constitution.

Susan B. Anthony was mainly known for her bravery. On November 5, 187, Anthony snuck into a voting booth and pulled the lever to vote. She was immediately arrested and brought to jail. She was fined a $100.00. In the court room, she was taken away her privileges of being judged by her peers. This means they took away the jury during the trial. This practically goes against everything the judge stands for. However, Anthony did not step down to this judge. She stood up for every possible right she had and could think of. Every time the judge would say sit down, she would get right back up and defend herself. She was going to try to do everything in her power to win. But as for winning, they might say she lost because she had to pay a fine, but she never did pay it and in a lot of other people’s minds, she did win.

As you can see Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton meant a lot to women’s suffrage and did so much on their part to get an amendment passed. The American People mainly honored Anthony, so they eventually named a $1 coin after her called the Anthony dollar. They will both be remembered and spoken about when it comes to the 1th amendment and will always be marked as very courageous women.
